Pelosi's (and other Dhimmicrats) War Blunder

From Washington Times (H/T Real Clear Politics):

By Jack Kingston
November 2, 2006

In a stunning performance on "60 Minutes," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi proved again why she cannot be trusted to keep America safe from the threat of global terrorism and Islamic extremists.

Mrs. Pelosi demonstrated that she does not understand the global nature of the threat when she stated flatly "the war on terror is the war in Afghanistan." She may think the war is limited to Afghanistan, but where does al Qaeda believe the war is? Al Qaeda's No. 2 man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in a letter to the leaders of al Qaeda in Iraq, was clear about the location of the global jihad and the importance of victory in Iraq:

"Victory of Islam will never take place until a Muslim state is established in the manner of the Prophet in the heart of the Islamic world ... As for the battles that are going on in the far flung regions of the Islamic world, such as Chechnya, Afghanistan, Kashmir, and Bosnia, they are just the groundwork and the vanguard for the major battles which have begun in the heart of the Islamic world."

Zawahiri reminds Iraqi terrorists, like Abu Musab Zarqawi, that God has blessed them "with the splendor of the spearhead of Jihad." Translation: Islamic fascists led by al Qaeda are fighting a global jihad to establish a Muslim caliphate from Egypt to Iraq. They will attack anyone, anywhere, with any means, that will further their violent cause.

Tourists in Indonesia, embassy workers in Africa, commuters in Spain and London, schoolchildren in Russia, office workers in New York and Washington, and 40 Americans on a plane over Pennsylvania could all tell Nancy Pelosi where the war on terror is, if their voices had not been silenced.

For Mrs. Pelosi, Iraq is not even part of the war on Islamic terrorism, while for our terrorist enemies Iraq is "the spearhead of jihad." Zawahiri's letter details a four-part strategy for global jihad starting with Iraq; "the first stage: expel the Americans from Iraq." In this first stage at least, Zawahiri seems to have found his "useful idiot" in Mrs. Pelosi.

She acknowledges that there are terrorists in Iraq, but naively submits that "they'll stay as long as we're there. They're there because we're there." What Mrs. Pelosi doesn't say is where she thinks the terrorists will go if we leave Iraq to fall into chaos. According to Mrs. Pelosi, our presence created the terrorists and when we leave they will put down their suicide belts and IEDs. She might want to read the rest of al Qaeda's plan before she is so sure:

"The second stage: Establish an Islamic authority ... over as much territory as you can to spread its power in Iraq ... in order to fill the void stemming from the departure of the Americans ... The third stage: Extend the jihad wave to the secular countries neighboring Iraq ... The fourth stage: It may coincide with what came before: the clash with Israel."

Our actions to liberate Iraq from the butcher of Baghdad did not cause Islamic terrorists, but our premature departure will surely embolden them. Zawahiri's letter exhorts his followers to learn the lessons of history as "things may develop faster than we imagine. The aftermath of the collapse of American power in Vietnam and how they ran and left their agents is noteworthy... we must take the initiative and impose a fait accompli upon our enemies."

While we may not have entered Iraq to defeat al Qaeda, there is no doubt that al Qaeda has entered Iraq to defeat us and begin the defeat of all nations in the region who do not share their extreme view of an Islamic caliphate, under strict Sunni rule, stretching across the entire Middle East. Like Osama bin Laden's fatwas declaring war on the United States and the civilized world, Zawahiri points to American retreat from Vietnam for inspiration. Maybe Mrs. Pelosi can answer how giving al Qaeda what they want in Iraq will keep Americans safe and secure from Islamic terrorism in the future.

Al Qaeda knows that they are in a war with many fronts. Zawahiri concludes that "more than half of this battle is taking place in the battlefield of the media ... we are in a media battle in a race for the hearts and minds of our umma (people)." Part of the battle against terrorism is taking place in our media as well. Last week, Mrs. Pelosi lost one battle for our side. America cannot take the risk that she will lose the war.

Yet another useful idiot from the dhimmicrats. Now, we can question their patriotism.

Ted Kennedy: Alcoholic, Killer, KGB Agent?

From Cybercast News Service (special thanks to Political Dogs for the poster above):

Kennedy Offered to Help Soviets Thwart U.S. Policies, KGB Papers Show

By Kevin Mooney
CNSNews.com Staff Writer
November 02, 2006

(CNSNews.com) - While Soviet troops occupied Afghanistan in 1980, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) worked in close concert with high level Kremlin officials to alter the direction of U.S. policy, according to documents made available through a KGB defector.

Details concerning Kennedy's correspondence with KGB agents are included in the writings of the late Vasiliy Mitrokhin who defected to Britain in 1992. The Mitrokhin papers highlight a meeting that took place at the behest of Kennedy between former Sen. John Tunney (D-Calif.) and KGB agents in Moscow on March 5, 1980.

The exchange of information between Tunney and the KGB is included as part of a report Mitrokhin filed with the Cold War International History Project of the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington D.C. The former KGB man continued to work with British intelligence until the time of his death.

Noted Cold War author and researcher Herbert Romerstein told Cybercast News Service Mitrokhin was a "highly credible source" with vast knowledge of the now-closed KGB archives.

Prior to his defection, Mitrokhin made meticulous copies of KGB documents by hand, explained Romerstein, who headed the U.S. government's Office to Counter Soviet Disinformation and Active Measures during the 1980s.

The KGB defector smuggled out six cases of notes that formed the basis of his reporting.

The KGB files Mitrokhin retrieved indicate that Kennedy fixed the blame for heightened international tensions on the Carter White House, not on the Kremlin. Kennedy at the time was challenging incumbent Carter for the Democratic nomination for president.

Tunney told his KGB counterparts that Kennedy was impressed by the foreign policy statements made by then General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev. Kennedy saw in Brezhnev a leader who was firmly committed to the policy of "détente," the report said.

But, in Kennedy's estimation, the Carter administration had assumed an overly belligerent posture toward the Soviet Union after the invasion of Afghanistan, Mitrokhin wrote.

In Kennedy's view, "the atmosphere of tension and hostility towards the whole Soviet people was being fuelled by Carter" as well as by some key advisors, the Pentagon and the U.S. military industrial complex, the Mitrokhin report states.

Throughout the meeting Tunney remained focused on the separation between Kennedy's proposals and the official stance of the Carter White House. While official U.S. policy called for the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan, Kennedy avoided "touching the question of the legality of the presence of Soviet troops," Mitrokhin reported.

Instead, Kennedy relayed through his envoy, Tunney, his support for a withdrawal of Soviet forces that would be coupled with policy directives that "guaranteed non-interference" by competing foreign powers in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

Since there was intense disagreement between Kennedy and the administration on policy toward the Soviets, Tunney told the KGB that the Massachusetts senator had concluded "it was his duty to take action himself, which could force the Carter administration to act to de-escalate the crisis," Mitrokhin wrote.

In 1980 Kennedy lost to Carter in the Democratic primary, and the incumbent in turn lost to Ronald Reagan in the general election.

As was previously reported by the Cybercast News Service Kennedy also subsequently made overtures to Soviet officials aimed at thwarting Reagan's military buildup in the 1980s.

Kennedy had offered to help the Soviets organize a public relations campaign in the U.S. that would dilute support for Reagan's policies. Once again, it was Tunney who traveled to Moscow on Kennedy's behalf to relay the senator's proposals.

The particulars of Kennedy's proposals are discussed in a letter dated May 14, 1983, that was sent from the head of the KGB to Yuri Andropov, who was then general secretary. Romerstein acquired a copy of the letter from a contact in Moscow who had access to the Kremlin archives.

"The letter speaks to the degree of opposition and the lack of understanding liberals like Kennedy had toward Reagan's policies," said Lee Edwards, a distinguished fellow at the Heritage Foundation.

"Reagan knew we had to build up our armed forces before we could apply pressure to the Soviets." The notion of fighting to win the Cold War was an alien concept to liberals like Kennedy, Edwards added, because they had grown accustomed to the policies of containment.

A copy of the letter is reproduced in a new book entitled "The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism." The author, Paul Kengor is a professor of political science at Grove City College.

The pattern of behavior should concern members of both political parties, Kengor said, because it shows Kennedy was willing to work against American foreign policy, regardless of who occupied the White House.

In his book, Kengor points out that Tunney acknowledged making 15 separate trips to the Soviet Union where he acted as an intermediary not only for Kennedy but for other U.S. senators.

'Clear violation'

Charles Dunn, dean of the Robertson School of Government at Regent University, told Cybercast News Service Kennedy's activities were in "clear violation of the U.S. Constitution and at the expense of presidential authority."

The secret overtures to the KGB during the Reagan years were particularly insidious, Dunn said, because Tunney and Kennedy were working to undermine what ultimately proved to be a very successful policy that brought an end to the Cold War.

"If another country gets the idea that it can deal outside of official channels then that undermines presidential leadership," he said.

For his part, Romerstein said that Kennedy, and other senators, may have violated the Logan Act, which has been on the books since 1799, but is rarely enforced. The law prohibits American citizens from engaging in private diplomacy with a foreign government with the intention of influencing public policy.

At the same time, however, Romerstein cautions against viewing Kennedy as an agent for the Soviets. Instead, he said, it is appropriate to label him a "collaborationist" who sought out Soviet contacts to advance his own interests, not theirs.

When Kennedy spoke highly of Soviet leaders like Brezhnev and Andropov, he may have been "pretending," in an attempt to curry favor, Romerstein said.

"He [Kennedy] was no more loyal to the Soviets than he was to the United States.," Romerstein said.

Kennedy's office was contacted but declined to comment on the communication the senator had with the KGB, as reported in the Mitrokhin papers.

Now, we can question their patriotism.

Nancy Pelosi's Sour Grapes

Typical liberal elitism-- Pelosi wants to keep the borders open to keep a steady flow of workers for her vineyards. From Investors Business Daily (H/T Bookworm Room)

Leaders: Rep. Nancy Pelosi has her own "grapes of wrath" scenario going on. Is her opposition to enhanced border security due to the fact that the House Democratic leader personally profits from a steady supply of cheap foreign labor?

If Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives, the San Francisco Democrat will not only be the first female speaker, but also the richest. The liberal Center for Responsive Politics puts her net worth as high as $55 million.

There is no record of Pelosi's ever returning her portion of those "tax cuts for the rich" to the U.S. Treasury. Or any record, for that matter, of using her (dare we use the word?) windfall to give the workers at her Napa Valley vineyards a raise.

As Peter Schweizer notes in his best-selling expose of liberal hypocrisy, "Do As I Say (Not As I Do)," part of the fortune of this defender of the working man is a Napa Valley vineyard worth $25 million that she owns with her husband. The vineyard produces expensive grapes for high-end wines. Napa grapes bring up to $4,000 a ton compared with $300 a ton for, say, San Joaquin grapes.

But Pelosi, winner of the 2003 Cesar Chavez award from the United Farm Workers, hires only nonunion workers and sells these grapes to nonunion wineries. Schweizer places Pelosi in a chapter titled "Workers of the World Unite Somewhere Else." UFW members need not apply at the Pelosi family vineyards.

Which makes Pelosi's steadfast opposition to any attempts to enhance border security and stem the flow of illegal immigration into the U.S. all the more interesting since she seems to be among those rich employers who financially benefit from a steady supply of cheap foreign labor.

She led the opposition and voted against the Secure Fence Act of 2006 recently signed into law by President Bush to build a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.

She opposed the Real ID Act of 2005, a valuable anti-terror tool, while bragging that Democrats under her leadership "defeated Republican attempts to restrict the easily forged Matricula Consular card" issued by the Mexican government.

She voted against a bill to make employers such as herself financially liable for hospital costs if undocumented employees seek medical attention, preferring that either taxpayers foot the bill or that hospitals close under the burden, as many are doing throughout the Southwest.

In 2005 she voted against barring the issuance of driver's licenses to illegal aliens and against a requirement that businesses use an electronic system to verify whether new hires have the legal right to work in the U.S.

Nor has Pelosi been a fan of employer sanctions against the hiring of illegal aliens. In 2003, she accused immigration officers of conducting "terrorizing raids" on Wal-Mart stores that led to the arrest of more than 300 illegal aliens.

Loraine Stewart, a farmworker advocate with Napa Valley Community Housing, in a 2004 San Francisco Chronicle article estimated that half of the migrant labor force in the valley consisted of undocumented workers, without whom "not one bottle of wine would get made here."

The people coming across our southern border aren't just seeking better lives. They're joined by drug smugglers and an assortment of people with criminal records. There are also what Immigration and Customs Enforcement calls OTMs (Other Than Mexicans) among whom potential terrorists could sneak in undetected.

Pelosi apparently puts her financial interests above the security of this nation and the safety of its citizens, exploiting undocumented workers in the process. If the people at Immigration and Customs are looking for an employer to check out, we know this little vineyard in the Napa Valley.

Now, I think we can question her patriotism.

Seymour Hersh: A Leopard Never Changes His Spots

Seymour Hersh, military-bashing leftist, pulitzer prize winning writer (think Vietnam's My Lai massacre) is up to his old tricks: bashing the American military any way he can. Here's what this liberal traitor sh*tbag had to say, in this article from McGill Daily:

“There has never been an American army as violent and murderous as the one in Iraq”
Pulitzer-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh slams Bush at McGill address

By Martin Lukacs
The McGill Daily

“The bad news,” investigative reporter Seymour Hersh told a Montreal audience last Wednesday, “is that there are 816 days left in the reign of King George II of America.” The good news? “When we wake up tomorrow morning, there will be one less day.”

Hersh, a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist and regular contributor to The New Yorker magazine, has been a thorn in the side of the U.S. government for nearly 40 years. Since his 1969 exposé of the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, which is widely believed to have helped turn American public opinion against the Vietnam War, he has broken news about the secret U.S. bombing of Cambodia, covert C.I.A. attempts to overthrow Chilean president Salvador Allende, and, more recently, the first details about American soldiers abusing prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

During his hour-and-a-half lecture – part of the launch of an interdisciplinary media and communications studies program called Media@McGill – Hersh described video footage depicting U.S. atrocities in Iraq, which he had viewed, but not yet published a story about.

He described one video in which American soldiers massacre a group of people playing soccer.

“Three U.S. armed vehicles, eight soldiers in each, are driving through a village, passing candy out to kids,” he began. “Suddenly the first vehicle explodes, and there are soldiers screaming. Sixteen soldiers come out of the other vehicles, and they do what they’re told to do, which is look for running people.”

“Never mind that the bomb was detonated by remote control,” Hersh continued. “[The soldiers] open up fire; [the] cameras show it was a soccer game.”

“About ten minutes later, [the soldiers] begin dragging bodies together, and they drop weapons there. It was reported as 20 or 30 insurgents killed that day,” he said.

If Americans knew the full extent of U.S. criminal conduct, they would receive returning Iraqi veterans as they did Vietnam veterans, Hersh said.

“In Vietnam, our soldiers came back and they were reviled as baby killers, in shame and humiliation,” he said. “It isn’t happening now, but I will tell you – there has never been an [American] army as violent and murderous as our army has been in Iraq.”

Hersh came out hard against President Bush for his involvement in the Middle East.

“In Washington, you can’t expect any rationality. I don’t know if he’s in Iraq because God told him to, because his father didn’t do it, or because it’s the next step in his 12-step Alcoholics Anonymous program,” he said.

Hersh hinted that the responsibility for the invasion of Iraq lies with eight or nine members of the administration who have a “neo-conservative agenda” and dictate the U.S.’s post-September 11 foreign policy.

“You have a collapsed Congress, you have a collapsed press. The military is going to do what the President wants,” Hersh said. “How fragile is democracy in America, if a president can come in with an agenda controlled by a few cultists?”

Throughout his talk Hersh remained pessimistic, predicting that the U.S. will initiate an attack against Iran, and that the situation in Iraq will deteriorate further. “There’s no reason to see a change in policy about Iraq. [Bush] thinks that, in twenty years, he’s going to be recognized for the leader he was – the analogy he uses is Churchill,” Hersh said. “If you read the public statements of the leadership, they’re so confident and so calm…. It’s pretty scary.”

What's scary is this dipsh*t is roaming the streets. Put this nutjob in a straight jacket and put him away.

I take exception to many of his comments. For example, he says that returning Vietnam soldiers were treated with disdain, as baby killers... that is a myth that's been blown out of proportion in the popular media. Most Vietnam era vets that I've talked to were greeted with open arms when they returned.

Maybe he and John Kerry should hook up (if they haven't already). Cowards R Us.

Is Islam inherently violent? [Rhetorical Question]

From WorldNet Daily:

New blockbuster, 'Religion of Peace?,' reveals disturbing facts
Posted: November 2, 2006 1:00 a.m. Eastern
© 2006 WorldNetDaily.com

It's the secret question in official Washington, D.C., in the Pentagon, and in the White House. It's the question that is so radioactive that most in government and the press dare not even pose it, let alone answer it:

Is Islam inherently violent and expansionist?

In the days following 9/11, President Bush assured America and the world that Islam was a "religion of peace" and that the violent followers of Osama Bin Laden had twisted the true Muslim faith. Acting on this belief, President Bush and other Western leaders sent troops to the Middle East in an effort to bring freedom and democracy to the Muslim world.

But what if this "understanding" of Islam is based not on fact, but instead on equal parts wishful thinking and Islamic deceit? It would mean that the entire War on Terror is based on a faulty – and increasingly deadly – premise.

In a disturbing but thoroughly researched new book, Religion of Peace? Islam's War Against the World, author and filmmaker Gregory M. Davis rebuts the notion that Islam is a great faith in desperate need of a Reformation. Instead, he exposes it as a form of totalitarianism, a belief system that orders its adherents not to baptize all nations, but to conquer and subdue them. Islamic law's governance of every aspect of religious, political and personal action has far more in common with Nazism than with the tenets of Christianity or Judaism.

Davis details how Islamic thought divides the world into two spheres locked in perpetual combat: There's dar al-Islam ("House of Islam," where Islamic law predominates), and dar al-harb ("House of War," the rest of the world). This concise yet thorough book leaves no doubt as to why most of the world's modern conflicts are connected to Islam – and calls into question why Western elites refuse to acknowledge Islam's violent nature.

Virtually every contemporary Western leader has expressed the view that Islam is a peaceful religion and that those who commit violence in its name are fanatics who misinterpret its tenets. This widely circulated claim is false, says Davis.

Mideast terror leaders to U.S.: Vote Democrat

Er, uh, Dhimmicrat, that is.

From WorldNet Daily:

By Aaron Klein© 2006 WorldNetDaily.com

JERUSALEM – Everybody has an opinion about next Tuesday's midterm congressional election in the U.S. – including senior terrorist leaders interviewed by WND who say they hope Americans sweep the Democrats into power because of the party's position on withdrawing from Iraq, a move, as they see it, that ensures victory for the worldwide Islamic resistance.

The terrorists told WorldNetDaily an electoral win for the Democrats would prove to them Americans are "tired."

They rejected statements from some prominent Democrats in the U.S. that a withdrawal from Iraq would end the insurgency, explaining an evacuation would prove resistance works and would compel jihadists to continue fighting until America is destroyed.

They said a withdrawal would also embolden their own terror groups to enhance "resistance" against Israel.

"Of course Americans should vote Democrat," Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group and the infamous leader of the 2002 siege of Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, told WND.

"This is why American Muslims will support the Democrats, because there is an atmosphere in America that encourages those who want to withdraw from Iraq. It is time that the American people support those who want to take them out of this Iraqi mud," said Jaara, speaking to WND from exile in Ireland, where he was sent as part of an internationally brokered deal that ended the church siege.

Vote for Ken Blackwell Nov. 7

Mr. Blackwell is right on every issue. He is an upstanding conservative politician who stands apart from the rest of Ohio's RINO Taft party.

If you want lower taxes and business growth for Ohio's economy, vote for Blackwell. If you want someone who is anti-abortion, pro- heterosexual marriage, vote for Blackwell. If you want someone who walks the walk, vote for Ken Blackwell.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I just want to make it official: Connect the Dots 2006 officially endorses Ken Blackwell for Ohio Governor.

Strickland: I got yer back, JK!

From the Blackwell campaign HQ:

STRICKLAND REFUSED TO DENOUNCE KERRY'S IRAQ COMMENTS
COLUMBUS Gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland yesterday told a radio talk show host that Americans would have "a different attitude" about the war in Iraq if it were not disproportionately fought by the poor.

During an interview with Tom Roten of News Talk 800 WVHU, Strickland refused to denounce Senator John Kerry's controversial don't study and "you get stuck in Iraq" comments. Democrat leaders and candidates across the country including Hillary Clinton have distanced themselves from Kerry's comments. Kerry has since apologized. However, Strickland suggested most Americans do not care about the young men and women fighting in Iraq.

"I strongly believe that if this war was being fully shared by all segments of our society and by all income levels and so on that a lot of people may have a different attitude about what's happening and the lives being lost and the young people that are being maimed," Strickland told Roten during the on air interview.

Gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell expressed disappointment with Strickland's comments. Blackwell's campaign demanded Strickland immediately apologize.

"Playing class politics on this important issue is simply disgraceful," Blackwell spokesman Carlo LoParo said. "To say Americans don't care about who is fighting and dying in Iraq is outrageous. Strickland needs to apologize for his callous and irresponsible comments."

Further, Strickland inferred his colleagues in Congress do not care about war casualties because their children are not fighting in Iraq.

"Michael Moore would be proud of Ted Strickland," LoParo added. "Even Hillary Clinton condemned John Kerry. Strickland just doesn't get it. He is an unabashed Washington D.C. liberal who doesn't understand Ohio values."

Following are links to the audio of Strickland’s irresponsible comments:

Ted, you're a bigger dope than your pal Kerry. Many of us haven't been directly touched by the war, but we do identify more with the brave men and women fighting for freedom around the world than with a clueless fake minister.

Treasonous NY Times Leaking Secret Info - AGAIN!!

From Michelle Malkin, the NY Times has released more damaging (to the American cause) info:

NYTimes blabbermouths strike again
By Michelle Malkin · November 01, 2006 08:26 PM

Meant to get to this earlier, but the newspaper of wreckage is at it again--publishing illegally leaked classified information about the war in yet another transparent effort to sway the election.

The article title: "Military Charts Movement of Conflict in Iraq Toward Chaos."

After blabbing about the classified info revelaed in the article for 11 paragraphs, the Times notes:
A spokesman for the Central Command declined to comment on the index or other information in the slide. “We don’t comment on secret material,” the spokesman said.

The article then continues to blab about the illegally leaked info for another seven paragraphs.

When is the administration going to investigate these pundits? I won't be satisfied until I see a NY Times editor or writer face a firing squad. We know that's not going to happen, but it should.

Associated (w/Terror) Press: Free Fauxtographer Bilal Hussein

From Michelle Malkin:
The Associated (with terrorists) Press reported yesterday on a lobbying campaign to free its Iraqi-based photographer Bilal Hussein, who has been in U.S. military detention since April (a fact first reported not by the A(w/t)P, but here on this blog).
More from the story:

One editor compared the Pentagon to Saddam Hussein's brutal regime:

David Zeeck, president of ASNE and executive editor of The News Tribune, of Tacoma, Wash., said Hussein's detention was reminiscent of how Saddam Hussein dealt with reporters."He would hold them incommunicado,"Zeeck said.

This, dear readers, underscores how utterly biased, ignorant, and muddle-headed the vast majority of mainstream journalists are in their coverage of the war on terror. These people see no difference between American troops detaining a suspect captured on the battlefield in the company of an alleged top al Qaeda leader in wartime and Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein repressing civilian journalists in peacetime.

Isn't it possible that Bilal Hussein is coughing up valuable information about insurgent associates involved in kidnappings, smuggling, improvised explosive device (IED) attacks and other attacks on coalition forces? Isn't it possible that Hussein is providing ongoing intelligence that may be saving both American and Iraqi lives? Isn't it possible that the troops on the ground who captured Hussein in an apartment with bomb-making materials have better judgement about his security risk than A(w/t)P execs a world away?

The A(w/t)P and its minions refuse to entertain the possibilities. They're too busy maligning our troops and our military leaders as Saddam-esque tyrants and moaning about how the lack of new terrorist propaganda photos is having a "chilling effect" on journalism.

End of the NSA Program? Yes, if the Dhimmicrats are elected

In this article at FrontPage Magazine, Ken Timmerman discusses the latest video from Citizens United (posted to Connect the Dots last night):

The importance of next Tuesday’s election to the security of each and every American can be summed up in a single thirty-second spot, called “Wiretap.”

It was written by former Clinton pollster Dick Morris, and is being aired nationwide by Dave Bossie’s Citizens United, a conservative interest group.

Here is the script.

Two Arabic-speakers are discussing an imminent terrorist attack, as an NSA tape-recorder captures their conversation.

“All is now prepared,” says the first.

“Is everything in place?

“It is done. When do we attack?

“Be prompt. Plant the bomb at—“

At that point, the screen goes blank, and the narrator delivers the come-on: “This terrorist wiretap has been disconnected by a Democrat-controlled Congress.”

Referring to Democratic party opposition to the President’s terrorist-surveillance program, the narrator then says: “If the Democrats win, the NSA won’t be allowed to listen as terrorists plot attacks.”

Spencer Discusses 'Muhammed' Book at Front Page Mag

Robert Spencer, who runs Jihad Watch, has written a new book: The Truth About Muhammad. There's a new interview at Front Page Magazine this morning, discussing the book.

FP: So tell us what inspired you to write The Truth About Muhammad. In your book, you discuss why you didn’t want to write it at first. How come?

Spencer: I was inspired to write this book by a phenomenon I have observed many times over the years: moderate Muslims would invoke Muhammad's example in arguing that Muslims should become more peaceful, and jihadists would invoke his example also, but to justify their acts of violence. I give some examples of this in the book's first chapter.

This is a very important question, for since Muslims traditionally have looked to Muhammad as the supreme example for human behavior (cf. Qur'an 33:21), what he was really like according to the sources Muslims themselves consider reliable will reveal a great deal about what non-Muslims can realistically expect in the long term from the Islamic world and the American Muslim community.

Meanwhile, the prevailing assumption among policymakers and the mainstream media is that Islam is fundamentally peaceful. Since a range of American policies are based on this assumption, I thought it useful to examine the origins of Islam and the character of its founder -- again, strictly according to the texts Muslims consider most reliable -- in order to determine how Muslims themselves who take such texts seriously regard their obligations as believers. This will illuminate a great deal about the readiness of Islamic nations and groups to make common cause and form lasting alliances with America and the West.

The interview continues to enlighten us into the behavior and thinking of the 'prophet'...

Spencer: Jamie, you're articulating one of the fundamental differences between the Christian and Islamic traditions. In Christianity, vengeance belongs to God only: "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord; I will repay" (Romans 12:19). But in Islam, the faithful are commanded to take revenge, for Allah will repay the offenders by means of the Muslim warriors: "Will ye not fight people who violated their oaths, plotted to expel the Messenger, and took the aggressive by being the first (to assault) you? Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame" (Qur'an 9:13-14). So in the first place, it is much more acceptable within an Islamic context than within a Christian one to avenge a wrong, and in Islam blaspheming or insulting the Prophet is a very serious wrongdoing.

Muhammad himself also sets an example for Muslims in this. He ordered the assassinations of several people who had dared to mock him and his prophetic pretensions - notably, two poets, Abu 'Afak and 'Asma bint Marwan. Abu 'Afak was reputed to be over one hundred years old, and had dared to criticize in verse Muhammad's killing of another of his opponents. Muhammad asked his men, "Who will deal with this rascal for me?" He found a ready volunteer in a young Muslim named Salim bin 'Umayr, who dispatched the old poet as he lay sleeping. 'Asma bint Marwan, a poetess, was incensed when she heard of the murder of Abu 'Afak. She wrote verses denigrating the men of Medina for obeying "a stranger who is none of yours," and asked, "Is there no man of pride who would attack him by surprise and cut off the hopes of those who expect aught from him?"

When Muhammad heard of this, he looked to strike first, asking for a volunteer to kill her: "Who will rid me of Marwan's daughter?" A Muslim named 'Umayr bin 'Adiy al-Khatmi took the job, and killed her along with her unborn child that very night. But after he had done the deed, 'Umayr began to worry that perhaps he had committed a grave sin. Muhammad reassured him: "You have helped God and His apostle, O 'Umayr!" But would he incur punishment?

"Two goats," replied the Prophet of Islam, "won't butt their heads about her.".

Read the entire interview here.Even if you've never read any of his books, it's very enlightening. I also suggest you visit his website. Frequently. Daily.

I first became aware of Mr. Spencer after reading his book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades). If you think Islam is a religion of peace, think again.

I urge you to read the book, and pass it along to your muslim friends. Most 'moderate' muslims are in denial about the prophet and the religion -- mostly, I'm guessing, because the Qu'ran is written in arabic, and most islamics around the world are NOT arabic and don't read that language.

I'll have a review of the book here as soon as I receive it and read it.

Video: Retired Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney calls for Kerry’s resignation

From Michelle Malkin's Hot Air:

And then proceeds to impugn his service in Vietnam.

From an active-duty soldier in Karol’s comments section: Is Kerry reffering to all the officers proudly serving over here as well? “Stuck in Iraq” he said, nice. I know first hand that I am not “stuck in Iraq”. I proudly put my boots on everyday for people back home so they can sleep soundly. We get blown up by IED’s/landmines, have mortar attcks, and the snipers are getting good over here. Just about everyday. It pisses me off to hear politicians bad mouth the situation over here. I have lost 4 damn good brothers. 2 in my own arms. People will NEVER understand what we go through everyday! It even makes me sick to my stomach that Kerry and I are considered “shipmates”. God Bless our great nation! Please keep praying for the ones still in harms way thoughout the world! Semper Fi.

CJ points to one nutroots blog as evidence that whatever Kerry might have meant, “[his] base knew exactly what he was saying.”

Of course, the mainstream media are avoiding this story like the plague.

BTW, my mother-in-law told me a joke she heard from someone in Kerry's state:

New Englander: "I'm from M'chusetts."
Texan: "Don't you mean 'Massachusetts?"
New Englander: "No, M'chusetts. We sent the ASS to Washington."

True. True.

Earlier Proof CNN is a pro-terror organization

I just did a search for 'Al Jazeera', the all-muslim, all-terrorism news network, and just found an interesting article at this website, the TBS Journal:

The Courting of Al-Jazeera
by TBS Managing Editor
Sarah Sullivan

While Washington asked the emir of Qatar to "rein in" Al-Jazeera, American
networks were headed to Doha in search of a deal.

It's nearly midnight in Doha, and we are in a cafe on a pier jutting out over the shoreline of the Persian Gulf. The cafe is empty and the night air quiet—except for the insistent ring of mobile telephones. Al-Jazeera Managing Director Mohammed Jasim Al-Ali takes a call from an American TV network executive. The airstrikes are well underway, and the Qatar-based satellite news channel, by now well known to TV audiences and Washington decision-makers alike, is the only TV presence in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. Washington, in early October, asked Qatar to rein in the satellite channel, claiming it fans anti-American sentiment. American broadcasters, though, want Al-Jazeera to make them a deal.

The story continues...

Although this is a perfect example of how two organizations can be of mutual assistance, agreements between Al-Jazeera and CNN are not just a result of, nor limited to, crisis coverage. "We've had a history of cooperation with CNN," Mr. Al-Ali says. "Three or four months ago we had a meeting with them to agree on cooperation, so that in areas where they are strong we would join in, and in the places that we're strong they'd have our support. It became formal around two and a half months ago, and more so after Sept. 11. It's a long-term agreement, not just for this crisis."

Al-Jazeera became a CNN World Report contributor a year ago, and over the summer officials from the two organizations met both in Washington and in Doha to cement a relationship. "After Sept. 11," Nasr says, "we realized we need a CNN presence in the Al-Jazeera newsroom to figure out how we can cooperate." Nasr, a Lebanese American equally fluent in English and Arabic, was in Doha by the 14th.

Looks like CNN was in bed with the terrorists as early as 2001. I'd say that qualifies as TREASON (see What's so wrong with showing Patriotism in the Media?), not purveyors of "the unvarnished truth."

Zogby Poll: Blackwell closes to within single digits

News flash: Zogby poll shows Blackwell closing to within 7 points of Strickland. From Mr. Blackwell's campaign:

COLUMBUS Gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell has closed within single digits of his opponent in the last week of the campaign. The Wall Street Journal Zogby Interactive Poll today shows the race has narrowed to 7.5 points with Blackwell receiving 43.3 percent and Congressman Ted Strickland receiving 50.8 percent. The poll was conducted from Oct. 23 - 27 and has a 3.7 percent margin of error. Previous surveys have shown Strickland with a double-digit lead.

The Blackwell campaign attributed the gap-closing poll to increased voter awareness and an emerging re-energized Republican base. Over the past several weeks, Republican grassroots voter contact efforts have reached several hundred thousand Republican and Independent voters. In addition, the campaign yesterday launched a major television advertising effort featuring national hero and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.

"We are campaigning door-to-door and neighbor-to-neighbor in the last weeks of the campaign and seeing great results," Blackwell campaign chair Lara Mastin said. "The polls are closing because Ken Blackwell's solutions to our state's education, health care and economic challenges offer a positive change of direction for Ohio families."

"We have the ground forces, resources and message necessary to take Ken Blackwell to victory on Nov. 7," Mastin added. Zogby International, one of the nation's most historically accurate polling firms, touts its interactive poll as the "wave of the future in survey research." In the 2004 presidential election, the survey accurately predicted the winner in 85 percent of the states that it polled within 4 points on average. In 2005, the poll accurately predicted the results of both the New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial contests, with poll results within 2.5 points on average.

I don't put a lot of stock in polls. I never took statistics in college, so I don't pretend to understand this stuff. I gotta believe, however, that these are rarely accurate simply because of media bias. Zogby may be different. Who knows? We'll find out in a week.

News Flash: Bush Signs Fence Bill, but it's already being built

From YouTube, video of Colin Hanna's appearance on Hannity & Colmes. Mr. Hanna is President of Let Freedom Ring and WeNeedAFence.com, a group of Patriots who are already building a fence with private funds. Another group of Patriots, with similar intent, are building the Minutemen Border Fence.

As Mr. Hanna says, the bill-signing is just an election ploy, since Congress hasn't provided any funding.

They have my donation already. Why not make one today at either WeNeedAFence or the Minuteman Border Fence? If you're a Patriot, you should think about either volunteering your time or money to make this happen.

We need a fence to stem the tide of illegal immigrants into the United States. The issue is not the average wetback coming across the border to work the jobs that Americans [supposedly] won't work, but the drug dealers, the Mexican military, the diseased livestock, the environmental impact, and the open doors for islamic terrorists to waltz in unchallenged.

The EID Sexual Harassment Incident

H/T to Little Green Footballs. Here's a report of islamic-inspired sexual assaults and riots happening in Egypt, and of the lack of reponse by the Egyptian police:

The Eid sexual harassment incident

I didn't want to write about this.

Hell, I didn't even want to know about it.

I remember the first time I heard of it while I was in Amman. Eblis sent me an e-mail titled "Behold the revolution in Egypt" with a link to malek's post on it and I stupidly clicked on it and was presented with a reality that I didn't want or desire to confront.

The story is as follows for the those of you who didn't hear about it: It was the first day of Eid, and a new film was opening downtown. Mobs of males gatherd trying to get in, but when the show was sold out, they decided they will destroy the box office. After accomplishing that, they went on what can only be described as a sexual frenxy: They ran around grabbing any and every girl in sight, whether a niqabi, a Hijabi or uncoverd. Whether egyptian or foreigner. Even pregnant ones. They grabbed them, molested them, tried to rip their cloths off and rape them, all in front of the police, who didn't do shit. The good people of downtown tried their best to protect the girls. Shop owners would let the girls in and lock the doors, while the mobs tried to break in. Taxi drivers put the girls in the cars while the mobs were trying to break the glass and grab the girls out. It was a disgusting pandamonium of sexual assaults that lasted for 5 houres from 7:30 PM to 12:30 am, and it truns my stomach just to think about it.

I called my father when I heard of that happening, and he informed me that he didn't hear of it at all. They watched Al Jazeerah, CNN, flipped through opposition newspapers, and nothing. Nada. Nobody mentioned it. As if it didn't happen.

But it did.

Why isn't the mainstream media reporting this? Doesn't fit their agenda, won't work to get Dhimmicrats elected... Who knows. It's coming our way, though, just look at that muzzy state up north - Dearbornistan.

Because They Hate: A Survivor of Islamic Terror Warns America

A new book by Brigitte Gabriel tells her story, a survivor of islamic terror. There's some pretty compelling stuff at her website, as well. I'm ordering a copy of the book, I'll review it as soon as I'm finished reading it.

From American Congress for Truth (H/T to Robert Spencer's Jihad Watch)

"Evil prevails when good people do nothing. With the spread of radical Islamic fundamentalism throughout the world, it is important for the people of the western world to know and understand whatto expect and what to do about it. We are faced with a war that has been declared on Christians and Jews in America and the world. Citizens of the most powerful country on earth watched in horror on 9/11, 2001 as a handful of men brought the United States of America to its knees. Wall Street froze, the stock market tumbled, and national air traffic ground to a halt. The West faces a threat more menacing today than the past goals of communist world domination.

We are facing an enemy that uses children as human bombs, mothers as suicide bombers, and men driven by the glory of death and the promise of eternal sexual bliss in heaven. We are fighting an enemy that loves death more than we love life. I am a victim of the Lebanese civil war, which was the first front in the worldwide Jihad of militant Islam against the only Christian country in the Middle East. My family’s home was shelled and destroyed leaving me wounded. I lived underground in a bomb shelter from age 10 to 17 without electricity and very little food. I had to crawl under sniper bullets to a spring to fetch water for my elderly parents. I was betrayed by my country, rescued by my enemy Israel, the Jewish State that is under attack for its existence today."

I urge you to visit this website and sign the anti-islamic petitions there. This isn't about being "islamophobic." Everyone that isn't muslim should be very, very afraid. According to the followers of the prophet Muhammed, we have three choices: convert, submit and pay a special tax (and live as second-class citizens), or die.

We MUST stop the spread of this hateful religion and culture throughout the US and North America.

"The Main Event" -- Buckeye Football, not Babs

From the Oct 19 Columbus fishwrap, otherwise known as the Dispatch:

WHO WILL CHEER WHEN PLAYERS' FAITH ENTERS THE ARENA?
Published: Thursday, October 19, 2006 SPORTS 01B

By Rob Oller, The Columbus Dispatch

Let those with ears hear: Rudimentary religion is alive and well among Buckeyes fans, where praise and prophesying rival that of a Pentecostal tent revival.

Preach it, brother.

Beware the evils of ESPNU.

It's going to be No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the 'Shoe come Nov. 18.

Any old smooth-talking devil would be better than Brent Musburger.

It's funny how some Ohio State fans accept the secular sermonizing, but they get nervous when someone from inside the program offers a prayerful "Oh ... my God."

The reasons for the worry vary, but among them is the thought that religion is fine -- as long as it doesn't detract from an undefeated season. The externals are what matter most: film study, focusing on Michigan, mouthing the words to Carmen Ohio, no gray on their sleeves.

The internal issues -- such as whether to wear faith on their sleeves -- are best kept secret, which is why it will be interesting to watch the reaction to a faith-based public outreach scheduled for Oct. 30 in St. John Arena.

The free event, dubbed "The Main Event," is billed as an opportunity for OSU fans to get to know what makes some of their favorite Buckeyes tick. It should be subtitled, "It's what's on the inside that counts."

Organized by senior defensive lineman Joel Penton and endorsed by coach Jim Tressel, the evening event -- paid for primarily with donations from area churches -- will show people what the two dozen or so born-again Christians on the team do when they're not making Michigan State look like Jones Middle School.

"Most people only get to see us on TV, only get to see what we do in football. They don't get an inside look at the people we really are," defensive lineman David Patterson said.

Do people care to know the who (Patterson)? Or just the what (Ohio State football player)? We shall see. It seems fair that if you're going to judge a player by the stories in Sunday's paper, then it wouldn't hurt to listen to the stories in his heart.

But there's a risk in getting to know the person, because then booing him doesn't seem so impersonal.

On the other side, there's a risk in being seen as someone not completely committed to bringing the Buckeyes their second national championship in five seasons.

"If you're going to speak to the Red Cross banquet on Thursday, it's like, 'He should be working on the game plan,' " Tressel said. "But we want (college football) to be a whole experience, and we'll take that risk."

No wonder Tressel proudly says Penton spends as much time preparing for "The Main Event" as for the Buckeyes' 12 weekly main events. It's not that Tress doesn't care about beating the Wolverines -- "We want to win games and we better win games," he said -- just that he cares more about the internals. He talks of the expectations put upon freshmen when they arrive on campus having been king of their high school communities.

"Everyone who goes out of town with the marching band is expecting him to take over the world and lead Ohio State to championships and go on to the NFL as the No. 1 pick, and it doesn't always happen that way," he said. "There are always battles, just the normal things that normal students not playing football have to adjust to. But the thing they have that they can hold onto is their faith. That's their rock."

Which is why some Buckeyes want to talk about it, Tressel said, mentioning Penton, Patterson and receiver Roy Hall, who wonders what all the fuss is about. "We're not giving a church service. We just want people to come out and listen," Hall said. "Faith can begin with just listening."

Listening? That's a novel approach. Much of the din this season -- and it's only going to grow louder -- comes from the harangue and hyperbole of those whose noise knows no bounds.

Finding perspective among the pandemonium can be difficult. Some Buckeyes and their coach want to make it easier.

I'll bet the Dispatch will be surprised when a capacity crowd shows up for the event.
Wow. Now we have God on our side, and along with WWH, how can we go wrong? (Although I think WWH is rolling in his grave when he sees Troy Smith pass so much)

Good for you, Tress. You ARE the complete package.

“THE VIEW” SPORTS BIGOTRY

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on today’s edition of the ABC-TV show, “The View”:“As we have recounted several times before, there is an anti-Catholic animus evident among the panelists on ‘The View,’ with Rosie O’Donnell and Joy Behar being the worst offenders. Today they were at it again, trotting out the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church one more time. The occasion for their outburst was an exchange they had with their guest, Amy Berg, the director of ‘Deliver Us From Evil,’ a recent documentary on the scandal that was a box-office bomb.

“When Behar said that the molesting priests were pedophiles, not gays, she was either lying or mistaken. This is not a matter of opinion—it is simply wrong to pretend that pedophilia is the problem. As any honest person who has seen the data knows, the majority of the victims were postpubescent, not little kids. And since 81 percent of the victims were male, and 100 percent of the victimizers were male, the problem is one of homosexuality, not pedophilia.

“Another lie or mistake was made when O’Donnell said, and Berg concurred, that ‘The current pope was the person who was supposed to investigate these charges of sex abuse in the Church in the last 20 years.’ As a matter of fact, when Pope Benedict XVI was Cardinal Ratzinger, he was not appointed to deal with this problem until 2002—after the scandal hit the newspapers.“Barbara Walters stands behind all this bigotry—it’s her show.”

Once again, the evil Rosferatu is all mixed up. What a surprise.

A Sad Reminder of Where We're Headed...

H/T to Debbie Schlussel. A Detroit-area Catholic Church, forced to sell because of a lack of parishoners, soon to be a mosque:

On the Edge of Hamtrackstan, a Sad Sign of the Times
By Debbie Schlussel
The Detroit Catholic Church, Our Lady Help of Christians Church, will close after 83 years.

Sadly, after celebrating its final Mass on Sunday, it will become a mosque. The Archdiocese of Detroit sold it to the Islamic Center of North Detroit. Bangladeshi Muslims will now pray to Allah, there. While the church is in Detroit, it's on the border of Michigan's second or third caliphate, Hamtramckstan. The dhimmization (or, dhimmification--take your pick) of America continues. Maybe they can call it, "Our Lady of Halalish Uncovered Meat."

(Interesting that the Detroit Newsistan lists this story as a "lifestyle" story. Their lifestyle over ours.)

Like an old flight instructor of mine used to say when the stall horn was going off in the Cessna 172 Skyhawk:
"You better do something!"

(At least I don't live in that nasty state up north. Pretty soon, the U of M will be saying islamic prayers at the fifty yard line after they lose to the Christian Crusadin' Buckeyes again.)

Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West

This film seems to be gaining ground. There's a new post today on Michelle Malkin's Hot Air about this film. It was apparently uploaded in its entirety to YouTube, then removed. At one point, it was on Google Video. The producers are attempting to regain some of their investment by preventing online piracy and selling the video at their website.

There's a 12-minute abridged version on Google Video now.

We commented on it several weeks ago, after hearing about it on Glenn Beck. Still waiting on my DVD to arrive. I'll have a review of it here after I receive it, plus I'll be trying to set up screenings of this movie in central Ohio.

Why I Love the Comics

I remember in Journalism school many moons ago, a perfesser telling us that statistics show that people who are more educated and more intelligent tend to read the comics, the sports page and the op-ed page religiously. Gee, I guess that means all that money on college wasn't wasted.

Today's (Sunday 10/29/06) Sunday comics have been infiltrated by political commentary. Not the usual lefty loonies like Trudeau's Doonesbury or the Berkley Breathed strip Opus, but strips like Hi & Lois and Foxtrot.

Hi and Lois is like the 'Father Knows Best' of comics. It's been around forever, has quaint little funny family tales, but occasionally has something that causes you to think. Today's Hi & Lois comic has the twins fighting over halloween costumes, until the mother tells them to pick "polar opposites." The kids comply: in the final panel they appear as democrats and republicans. What's interesting is the republican is dressed as a businessman, the democrat as a 60's hippie. How perceptive!

Today's Foxtrot comic, by Bill Amend, speaks to the scariness of electronic voting machines, but more importantly: how most people don't care about this 'politics' stuff.

Right on target.

What's so wrong with showing Patriotism in the Media?

I wasn't around during World War II. I wasn't even a gleam in my daddy's eye then. I don't know firsthand what it was like to live in America during that war. But it certainly appears that things have changed in America since then, especially with the mainstream media.

I have been frustrated by news outlets like CNN airing terrorist propaganda recently -- the sniper attacks on American soldiers in Iraq. I've been frustrated by the one-sided reporting of the efforts of the war -- the body counts, ABC's Nightline airing lists of dead soldiers. And the list goes on and on.

In this recent confrontation (H/T to Michelle Malkin's Hot Air) on Wolf Blitzer's CNN show, Lynne Cheney asks Blitzer "Do you want to win this war? Why are you showing this terrorist propaganda?" Blitzer's party line response: "We're just reporting the news. We're not partisan, we're just reporting the news."

The mainstream media have this 'purist' attitude, that they have to report the "unvarnished truth" -- or says CNN in their response to questions on why they are airing these videos.

There is no such thing as a single truth. There are many sides in this conflict, as there was in World War II. But the media chose then to report only the side that would help our cause, boost American public and troop morale, make us feel proud and strong, get everyone behind the effort to win what was arguably a war to preserve our civilization.

Would it be so wrong for the media to show American bias? Would it be so wrong to show the good guys winning the war? Would it be so wrong to show the good guys blowing up terrorists? Would it be so wrong to show Iraqi students back in schools built by American hands and dollars?

I can find that on the internet, but not on CNN, not on MSNBC, not on Katie Couric's bottom-feeding CBS Evening News.

Pundits on the left call the war in Iraq a 'quagmire.' They compare it to Vietnam, a long, bloody war, also not supported in the popular media.

I say: media, democrats, ACLU... look in the mirror if you think Iraq is a quagmire. You're the cause of the war stalling, the war not being won outright. Every time you report a story graphically showing American soldiers being killed; every time you show terrorist fighters succeeding against American soldiers; every time you leak stories of American strategy, or American secrets, or American soldiers harrasing islamic terrorist prisoners...

You stab America in the heart.

It seems to me that Americans would have cried 'Treason' during earlier wars if politicians or the media had made the same choices they're making today. I'm American, and I'm shouting "TREASON".

Associated (with terrorism) Press: Fair and Balanced 'Style'

My ears perked up during a recent broadcast on the WSYX-6 TV news - Mark Hyman's The Point was discussing the AP Stylebook:

AP Stylebook
Words are powerful. Specific words can lend meaning -- accurately or inaccurately -- to a subject.

The Associated Press Stylebook is a popular guidebook for journalists recommending everything from word usage to punctuation.

News reporting is supposed to be unbiased. The AP Stylebook supposedly recommends words and styles that maintain neutrality in reporting subject matter. It is that last point that draws attention to the AP Stylebook regarding how to address the abortion issue. There are so many terms in use: pro-life, pro-choice, pro-abortion, anti-abortion, and the list goes on.

The AP Stylebook states journalists should "Use 'anti-abortion' instead of 'pro-life' and 'abortion rights' instead of 'pro-abortion' or 'pro-choice'." Generally, if something is "anti-" it is viewed as a negative. Using the term "abortion rights" implies the "rights" are valid. Pro-life supporters would disagree with that premise.

The AP is wrong in its recommendations. The terms "pro-choice" and "pro-life" pretty much give equal standing to both sides of the debate. Can you imagine the howls of protest if the AP suggested "pro-life" and "anti-life"? And if the AP suggests "anti-abortion" is correct it would then have to pick "pro-abortion" for the other side of the debate. But it doesn't. That's because the AP has chosen sides in the abortion debate.

I paid attention to this editorial because I work in the printing & publishing biz -- I've been using the AP Stylebook since I was in journalism school way back in the 1970's. It's sort of a 'bible' for writers, editors, journalists-- anyone needing standardization or clarification on things like spelling and capitalization.

After hearing Mr. Hyman's editorial, I decided to check it out myself. Sure enough, right there in black-and-white, is the reference to 'abortion' exactly as he described it:

This falls right in line with the events that were happing in the Israeli/Palestine conflict over the past several months. AP reporters and photographers were accused of falsifying stories and staging photographs to make the plight of the poor widdle Palestinians being attacked by Israel much more harsh than it actually was.

I thought perhaps, that was an isolated incident, of Palestinian/Hezbollah supporters being hired to cover the story. Apparently, the Associated (with terrorism) Press has a different agenda than just reporting the news.

The lefties have infiltrated everything! Is nothing sacred?

Why Don't We Have Some Real Celebrities Like This in America?

From Australia, pop singer Beccy Cole has released this song to counter attacks on her for supporting 'the Diggers,' Aussie troops fighting in the middle east. Her reply: if you're not proud of our troops, take my poster off your wall. "I prefer to be a poster girl on the wrong side of the world."

Amen, baby, amen.

As Michelle Malkin calls it, kinda like a Bizarro 'Dixie' chick. (BTW, Dizie chicks, we're ashamed you're from this planet).
Looks like islamic fundamentalism is a global problem. Looks like they have the looney lefties in every country. God help us.

Ah, Yes. The Religion of Piece(s)

In typical double-standard fashion, izlamic fundamentalist doctors are requiring even their sickest patients to fast during ram-a-lam-a-ding-dong, at the risk of dying, even though their religion clearly doesn't require it. From Yahoo news:

'Bearded doctors' risking health of fasting patients: professor

CAIRO (AFP) - A growing number of Islamic fundamentalist doctors are putting their patients' health at risk by telling them to fast during the holy month of Ramadan, a prominent Egyptian doctor said.

"We have noticed that brain and heart accidents are on the rise towards the end of Ramadan," Mohammed Ahmed Nasr, a professor of cardiac surgery from the Egyptian National Heart Institute, told AFP.

"In Islam, one who is suffering from an ailment is not compelled to fast but there are bearded doctors who are simply not telling their patients the truth," he said.

During the holy month, which in Egypt ends Tuesday with the feast of Eid al-Fitr, most Muslims fast from dawn to dusk but continue their regular activity.

"The rise of Islamic fundamentalism in medical circles is a very dangerous phenomenon," said Nasr, who wrote an article that was published Monday in the Egyptian press.

"There are more and more complications among heart patients towards the end of Ramadan and in the worst cases these complications can lead to death," he warned.

Egypt's medical association has long campaigned against the influence of radical Islamists in the medical world.

For instance, it alleges that a group of influential Islamist doctors is blocking a law authorising and regulating organ transplants on religious grounds, despite backing from the country's top clerics for legislation.

The legal loophole has allowed a parallel industry of illegal organs trafficking to flourish.

They sell drugs to finance their jihad. They frequent strip clubs and drink liquor before they drive jetliners into skyscrapers. Now, they traffick in organs, I'm guessing to finance their jihad.

Nice religion, towelheads. Ever heard of the Ten Commandments? Your camel-humping, little girl-raping, sick, twisted 'religion' breaks about every single one of them. And you want to force it on the rest of us? Fuggedaboutit.

Geez, no wonder we're at war.

Stupid Judges and the Presidents Who Appoint Them

Our society is so f*cked up right now, everything is topsy-turvy.

Every day tops the previous one in amazement at how far our society has fallen, thanks to the political "my career is most important" whores in Warshington who appoint judges that will get accepted vs. judges with real values.

We have judges ruling against a program that allows the government to wiretap phone calls into terrorist sponsored states. We have judges forcing corporations to set up separate prayer rooms and allow muzlims extra time to practice their so-called religion. Two cases this week have my blood at 211 degrees -- just seconds away from boiling over:

Case one (H/T to Debbie Schlussel):

Ex-border agents sentenced for shooting smuggler
EL PASO, Texas - U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton has received dozens of angry letters and phone calls decrying the prosecution of a pair of former U.S. Border Patrol agents who were sentenced Thursday to more than 10 years in federal prison.

The agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, were convicted earlier this year of shooting Osvaldo Aldrete Davila, a drug smuggling suspect, as the man fled across the Rio Grande into Mexico after a confrontation with the agents.

Convicted for shooting a drug smuggler. Eleven and 12 year sentences.
Niiiceee.

Case 2:

Terrorist's Lawyer Gets Two-Year Term
NEW YORK — Defense lawyer Lynne F. Stewart on Monday was sentenced to 28 months in prison for aiding terrorists, far less than the 30 years prosecutors had sought.Stewart represented Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, who was sentenced to life in prison for plotting to blow up five landmarks in New York. In May 2000, in violation of prison rules, she passed on a statement from Rahman to a Reuters reporter.

Hmmm. Public servants working hard to protect the American border get 12 years in prison for shooting a drug smuggler. Terrorist sympathizer/traitor/lefty nutcase lawyer who aids an extremist who is responsible for hundreds of deaths gets two years.

God help us.

Airport Security Video: True, True

From Michelle Malkin's Hot Air:

Stop the injustice! No more islamo-fascist-arabic-men with brown skin profiling! Wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.

Hey, BABS! Call me when you get some class!

Like Rodney's famous words, our 'beloved' Babs has revealed her true self (as if we didn't know). From Breitbart (H/T to Michelle Malkin's Hot Air)
Streisand Has Outburst at NYC Concert
Oct 10 10:07 AM US/Eastern

By NEKESA MUMBI MOODYAP Music Writer
NEW YORK

It was an evening that elicited tears, standing ovations, raucous laughter and shouts of joy from the audience _ and was just in the first few minutes. Yes, Barbra Streisand's return to touring after a 12-year absence was the extravaganza that it promised to be. Monday night's show at Madison Square Garden was the third stop of a 20-city jaunt across the nation _ a virtual lovefest between the ultimate diva and an adoring, sold-out, celebrity-dotted crowd.

Streisand effortlessly crooned through a select repertoire of the hits she's amassed during her four-decade-plus career. But night's most riveting moment came during what was perhaps the only unscripted _ and truly uncomfortable _ episode in the three-hour show.

There was Streisand, enduring a smattering of very loud jeers as she and "George Bush" _ a celebrity impersonator _ muddled through a skit that portrayed the president as a bumbling idiot.

Though most of the crowd offered polite applause during the slightly humorous routine, it got a bit too long, especially for a few in the audience who just wanted to hear Streisand sing like she had been doing for the past hour.

"Come on, be polite!" the well-known liberal implored during the sketch as she and "Bush" exchanged zingers. But one heckler wouldn't let up. And finally, Streisand let him have it. "Shut the (expletive) up!" Streisand bellowed, drawing wild applause. "Shut up if you can't take a joke!" With that one F-word, the jeers ended. And the message was delivered _ no one gets away with trying to upstage Barbra Streisand, especially not in her hometown.

Once the outburst (which Streisand later apologized for) was over, Streisand noted that "the artist's role is to disturb," and delivered a message of tolerance before launching into a serenely beautiful rendition of "Somewhere." That put the focus back on what the audience came for _ her voice, one of the greatest female instruments of her generation.

She's definitely disturbing, and definitely an instrument (I'm thinking 'tool').

Message of tolerance. Riigghhttt...

Scary Movie: This is just too good to pass up.

From the Drudge Report (H/T to Michelle Malkin's Hot Air):

'SCARY MOVIE' PRODUCER MAKES CAMPAIGN AD;
MOCKS DEMOCRATS
Tue Oct 10 2006 15:13:16 ET

**Exclusive**

The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained an exclusive copy of a "scary" campaign advertisement created by Hollywood producer and director David Zucker that was intended to be used by GOP organizations in the closing weeks of the 2006 campaign.

However, the advertisement was deemed "too hot" by GOP strategists all across Washington, DC who have refused to use it!

In the ad, Zucker, producer of SCARY MOVIE 4, recreates former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's 2000 visit to North Korea. During the visit, Secretary Albright presented North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il with a basketball autographed by former NBA superstar Michael Jordan.

An actress playing Secretary Albright is shown presenting Kim Jong Il with the Michael Jordan basketball, painting the walls of Osama bin Laden's Afghanistan cave and turning a blind eye to suicide bombers. In one scene her skirt rips as she changes the tire of a Middle Eastern dictator's limousine.

One GOP strategist said "jaws dropped" when the ad was first viewed. "Nobody could believe Zucker thought any political organization could use this ad. It makes a point, but it's way over the top."

Zucker is the producer and director of comedies such as "Airplane" and "The Naked Gun." In 2004, Zucker, a longtime Democrat, embraced the Republican Party based on concerns he had about national security issues and voted for President George W. Bush.

And of course, here's the video:

I knew there was a reason I liked Zucker. Finally, someone from Hollywood with some gray matter between the ears, and some cajones. Wake up Babs, Hanoi Jane, Michael Moore, The Boss, Dixie Hicks, and all your lefty cronies! Socialism is so last week.

Here We Go Again: Clinton 'Contained' N Korea Threat

From Newsmax:

North Korea Nukes Clinton Legacy
Charles R. Smith Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003

Asian Arms Race Result of Appeasement Policy

The leftist media spin is that the current crisis in North Asia is the result of George W. Bush calling Pyongyang a member of the 'axis of evil.' In reality, the soft-line appeasement policy taken by Clinton against North Korea and China is what has led us to this point.

For example, former Clinton adviser Paul Begala, now serving as a talking head on CNN, claimed that the Clinton administration contained the threat from North Korea. Clearly, Mr. Begala missed the 1990s.

Of course, Mr. Begala simply forgot that Clinton's military chief of staff testified in 1998 that North Korea did not have an active ballistic missile program. One week later the North Koreans launched a missile over Japan that landed off the Alaska coast.

During the early Clinton years, hard-liners and so-called conservative hawks advocated a pre-emptive strike to halt North Korea's nuclear weapons development before it could field an atomic bomb. Instead of taking the hard line, President Clinton elected to rely on former President Jimmy Carter and decided to appease the Marxist-Stalinist dictatorship.

Carter met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in Pyongyang and returned to America waving a piece of paper and declaring peace in our time. Kim, according to Carter, had agreed to stop his nuclear weapons development. The Clinton appeasement program for North Korea included hundreds of millions of dollars in aid, food, oil and even a nuclear reactor. However, the agreement was flawed and lacked even the most informal means of verification.

When will the Jimmy Carters, the Clintons and the Kerrys of this world learn:
appeasements, incentives and diplomacy do not work against lunacy?
