Three good men are dead thanks largely to San Francisco’s outrageous sanctuary-city policy, which forbids city authorities from notifying federal immigration authorities when they arrest illegal aliens for crimes they commit, and it’s time for President Bush to crack down on all the cities in the United States that follow this absurd policy.

On June 22, Anthony Bologna and his sons Michael and Matthew were shot to death by Edwin Ramos, 21, after a brief traffic incident when Anthony Bologna allegedly briefly blocked Ramos' car from making a left turn, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Ramos, an alleged member of the vicious the Mara Salvatrucha gang, known as MS-13, should never have been around to kill the three men, and wouldn’t have been -- were not for the city’s sanctuary-city policy.

Ramos, an illegal immigrant, was found guilty of committing two felonies when he was 17 -- involving a gang-related assault of a Municipal Railway passenger and the attempted robbery of a pregnant woman -- yet was never surrendered by the city’s juvenile justice authorities to federal officials for possible deportation as required by federal law.Ramos was taken to juvenile hall on charges of assault and participating in a street gang, and was later convicted in juvenile court and put in a shelter. Under federal law, he should have been referred to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) but the Juvenile Probation Department's policy for dealing with offenders stipulated that "probation officers shall not discriminate in any fashion against minors based on their immigration status."

McCain's top priority: resurrect immigration bill

Appearing before the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) in Washington Saturday, each tried to assuage these concerns—and court a community whose votes could prove pivotal in Florida and a handful of western battleground states.
McCain, speaking first, promised the approximately 700 attendees that resurrecting the bipartisan immigration bill he helped shape last year would be at the forefront of his agenda as president.
“It would be my top priority yesterday, today and tomorrow,” McCain said in response to a question about whether he would pursue a comprehensive approach beyond his campaign promise to secure the border in his first 100 days in office.
Seeking to win some points for his initial support for a comprehensive immigration bill, McCain oted that his position “wasn’t very popular…with some in my party.”
And, in remarks that could inflame those Republican border hawks, the Arizona senator made lear he would not just seek to secure the border first, as he promised in the primary.
“We have to secure our borders—that’s the message,” McCain said. “But we also must proceed with a temporary worker program that is verifiable and truly temporary.”

WTF. I can't recall in recent memory when we've had two equally liberal candidates on both sides of the fence.

Liberal media pollsters are showing widely popular support for the senate immigration bill. They must be asking only liberals and hispanics.

Although, considering the alternatives (Gore or Kerry), it was the lesser of two evils.

I've been resistant to joining in the Bush bashing, one, because I voted for him, and two, because I don't want to be associated with the Rosie-type lefties... But thank God he's gone in another year and a half. Let's hope he doesn't do too much more damage before he's gone.

As Lou Dobbs says, Bush's comments were made in a condescending, inarticulate tone. Which has always been his manner of speaking.

Tancredo: McCain, Giuliani would be disastrous for GOP

In a WorldNetDaily.com article, Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., may be putting his hat into the ring for the 2008 presidential election, if for no other reason than to counter the open border policies of those two:

"Both of those individuals, of course, would be disastrous for us for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is their position on immigration, which is to open the border," Tancredo told WND in an exclusive interview. "I will do everything I can – whether I'm a candidate for president or just as a member of Congress – I will do everything I can to make sure those two names are not the only options that people have."

Rep. Tancredo is possibly the only sane member of Congress. After reading Infiltration: "How Muslim Spies and Subversives have Penetrated Washington," I contacted author Paul Sperry asking if he knew anyone in government that was untainted by islamic or mexican money, and Tancredo was one.

That's a bandwagon I'll jump on in a New York minute.
